The official spokesperson for the health sector in the UAE, Farida Al Hosani, confirmed that the country is among the first in the world to open vaccination for the age group between 12 and 15 years, prioritizing the safety of children. Al Hosani stated during a media briefing regarding the updates on the coronavirus that more vaccines for children are expected to be available in the upcoming period, following clinical trials aimed at ensuring the vaccine's safety and evaluating the immune response in a larger group of children.
She mentioned that health authorities continue their exceptional efforts in the national vaccination campaign against COVID-19, including early detection of cases and rapid intervention to prevent complications, in addition to tracing contacts and implementing all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
Al Hosani affirmed that the national vaccination campaign continues to achieve its goals, with over 81.93% of the eligible population—individuals aged 16 and above—vaccinated, and 92.35% of the elderly population aged 60 and above vaccinated, as this group is prioritized due to their higher susceptibility to the disease and its complications.
