Egypt's astronomical research has revealed a surprise related to the earthquake that occurred this morning in Egypt, indicating that it was stronger than the earthquake of 1992. Today's earthquake, measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale, primarily affected the coast of Cyprus, with its effects felt by residents in some regions of Egypt. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Cyprus region on Tuesday, confirming in a statement that the earthquake occurred 48 km northwest of Polis, Cyprus, at a depth of 19.6 kilometers. It is worth noting that the earthquake that struck Cairo on October 12, 1992, had a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale, but it was unusually destructive for its size, resulting in the deaths of 545 people, injuring 6,512 others, and leaving approximately 50,000 homeless.
