Senegalese star Sadio Mane of Liverpool has raised doubts about his participation in his country's match against Equatorial Guinea in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Sunday, following an injury sustained during the Round of 16 match against Cape Verde, in which Senegal won 2-0, with Mane scoring the first goal.
Mane is suspected to have suffered a concussion due to a collision with the Cape Verde goalkeeper, who was shown a red card by the referee for reckless play against Mane, as revealed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the 57th minute of the match.
Mane posted a picture on his personal Instagram account showing him doing individual training, emphasizing that he is recovering from the injury, without clarifying whether he will play in the crucial match against Equatorial Guinea, especially since he fell to the ground during the game and requested to be substituted immediately due to the strong impact on his head.
Mane's injury comes just hours after he appeared in a controversial video challenging Egyptian fans, telling them the score was "Senegal one, Egypt zero," after learning that Senegal would face Egypt, led by his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah, in home and away matches to determine the qualifying team for the "2022 Qatar World Cup."
