Audio Recording Threatens Saudi Embassy with Terrorism; Interior Minister Takes Action

In light of the interest in Lebanon's welfare, security, and its good relations with brotherly countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, and following the spread of an audio recording on social media on August 23, 2022, in which an individual threatens the Saudi Embassy in Beirut with a terrorist act, Minister of Interior and Municipalities Judge Bassam Mawlawi, in his capacity as Head of the Central Internal Security Council, issued two letters to both the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Information Branch, requesting necessary investigations and the arrest of anyone found involved, to be referred to the judiciary, and to take the necessary actions as quickly as possible. He also directed the General Directorate of General Security to maintain a record of the entry and exit movements of anyone found involved, in and out of Lebanon. It is noted that the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities has information suggesting that one Ali bin Hashim bin Salman Al-Hajji of Saudi nationality is the person behind the circulating audio recording and is wanted by Saudi authorities for terrorism-related crimes.
