Following two statements from the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, directed at holders of the Lebanese pound and then to Lebanese banks, the exchange rate of the dollar in the parallel market continued to decline significantly. By Friday evening, it reached 29,000 – 29,500 Lebanese pounds per US dollar, after having previously touched 38,000 Lebanese pounds earlier in the day.
