Is There a Sole Candidate for Forming the Government?

President Michel Aoun intends to invite for binding parliamentary consultations either tomorrow or the day after, to be held at the presidential palace for naming the new Prime Minister, with the consultations scheduled for next week. This follows his private discussions with certain leaders and political forces. According to informed sources for "Al-Jomhouria," current communications indicate that former Prime Minister Najib Mikati is the only candidate for forming the new government so far. They revealed that the assignment process is not linked to any other files at all and that it is an obligation that will occur on its own, independent of prior agreements or guarantees or other issues related to the formation that are circulated in some media outlets. As for the structure of the government, sources speculated that if Mikati is tasked, he might aim to form a government similar to the current one, though this does not guarantee his success in this endeavor.
