U.S. President Joe Biden stated that he will lay the foundations for the upcoming economic aid package, starting next week.
Due to the report released on Friday regarding jobs, which came in worse than expected with a loss of many jobs for the first time since April, Biden emphasized the need for swift action following the loss of 140,000 jobs in America in December 2020. Biden added: "These employment numbers, the latest in the Trump era, are evidence that we must provide additional support immediately for workers' families and businesses, which represents the greatest challenge and perhaps the most critical economic steps needed amid the COVID-19 pandemic." The Department of Labor reported that December witnessed a loss of 140,000 jobs, particularly in the entertainment, hospitality, and private education sectors.
