Does Houkstein Carry a Loaded Response?

All eyes are on the anticipated visit tomorrow, Sunday, of the American mediator in the maritime border demarcation file between Israel and Lebanon, Amos Houkstein. Notably, what Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, announced yesterday regarding his optimism about reaching an agreement between Lebanon and Israel through American mediation for the maritime border demarcation, emphasizing that there has never been such optimism as there is today. Sources monitoring the maritime border demarcation file warned of what they termed "excessive optimism" being spread by some Lebanese officials, which implies that a final agreement has been reached, knowing that Amos Houkstein is expected to carry a "loaded" response to the Lebanese proposal. They advised caution in dealing with the file rather than rushing to disseminate positivity. The sources told Al-Diyar: "It is true that both the Israeli and American sides are eager for a quick agreement to ensure gas extraction before the end of this summer; however, that does not mean that things have reached their conclusion, especially since we are dealing with an enemy, and thus the devils lie in the details. This necessitates holding on to Lebanon's strength, which is resistance, and standing behind it in this file after it has taken the lead by imposing its conditions to secure the country's supreme interest."
