The European Union Aviation Safety Agency announced in a statement that "the Union will lift the mandatory mask requirement during flights and in airports starting next week, as the pandemic recedes in Europe," according to Agence France-Presse.
The agency, based in Germany, stated: "The European Union Aviation Safety Agency and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control have issued an update on health safety measures for air travel, removing the recommendation for mandatory medical mask-wearing in airports and on board flights, while noting that masks remain one of the best means of protection against the transmission of COVID-19."
