Qatari authorities have released all detained Bahraini fishermen, including bodybuilding champion Sami Al-Haddad, Habib Abbas, and Muhammad Al-Dosari.
Additionally, all Asian fishermen residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain were released, according to a statement from the Bahraini Ministry of Interior on Thursday. The Bahraini authorities announced receiving a notification from the Qatari foreign ministry regarding the release of bodybuilding champion Sami Al-Haddad and two others after they were detained during a fishing trip.
The fishermen had been held earlier while on fishing trips, including Sami Al-Haddad. Manama had requested the release of Sami Al-Haddad last Sunday, who was arrested along with another citizen. According to the Bahraini interior ministry's statement, Qatar also released another Bahraini fisherman who had been detained last December. The statement added that their boats are still being held.
It is noteworthy that Sami Al-Haddad has been crowned the champion of Bahrain in bodybuilding for several years.
