Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced his country's readiness to engage in dialogue with Gulf countries in response to an invitation from Qatar or a prior invitation from Kuwait.
In an interview with Iranian television, Zarif stated, "We have always extended a hand of friendship to the Gulf states because this region belongs to all of its countries, and ensuring its security benefits everyone. Disrupting the security of the region only serves a specific group." Zarif emphasized that "our response to Kuwait's invitation for dialogue with the Gulf countries during the time of the late Emir of Kuwait was positive, but the other countries preferred to wait due to the arrival of former President Donald Trump."
He considered that "Gulf countries lost four years of the opportunity for dialogue with Iran, and now Trump has left, but we remain along with the Gulf countries," adding, "Gulf countries need to realize that they will stay alongside Iran, while American presidents change."
Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that Qatar urged the Arab Gulf states to enter into dialogue with Iran, asserting that now is the right time for Doha to mediate in negotiations.
