Liverpool has signed 21-year-old Scottish Under-21 defender Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen, on Sunday, to act as a backup for right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. Ramsay, who is 18 years old and has not yet played for the senior Scotland national team, joined for a fee of £4.2 million. He made his debut for Aberdeen in March of last year and featured in 39 matches for the team in the Scottish Championship, providing nine assists and scoring one goal. Ramsay will serve as a backup to Liverpool star Arnold next season, with the potential to play as a starter in some matches. Ramsay is Liverpool's third signing during the current summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez from Benfica and Portuguese midfielder Fábio Carvalho from Porto.
