Molecular biologist and researcher at Moscow State University, Maxim Skolachev, has shocked humanity with a new theory regarding the effects of COVID-19 symptoms on the human body and how an infection can impact a person's biological age. In an interview with Russian media, he stated that the health of unvaccinated individuals who contract the virus will suffer from several negative factors, which can lead to aging of the body by a full year in just one day of infection.
The Russian scientist explained, "If a person has not received a COVID-19 vaccine and suffers from the disease, they are effectively undergoing health impacts expected to be experienced over ten years, but they feel them within ten days, resembling accelerated aging."
Regarding natural aging, he pointed out that, unlike the natural aging process, the effects of COVID-19 infection can be mitigated through treatments for the effects caused by the virus after contracting it.
The COVID-19 pandemic has officially claimed over 5.723 million lives worldwide since the end of December 2019. In absolute numbers, the United States has recorded the highest death toll (901,391), followed by Brazil (630,494), India (501,114), and Russia (334,743). According to estimates from the World Health Organization, the total death toll may be two to three times higher, considering the excess deaths attributable to COVID-19 both directly and indirectly.
