The Russian diplomatic mission in the United States confirmed that the phone lines at the Russian consulate in New York have been disconnected for more than 24 hours.
Russian news agency Sputnik reported today, Tuesday, that the Russian consulate's Twitter account stated, "Dear visitors... since January 18, the American side has disconnected all phone lines belonging to the Russian consulate in New York, which naturally makes it difficult to access the internet continuously." The consulate continued in its tweet, "Please contact us via email for any questions you may have. You can find our email addresses on our website."
It is noted that this action comes two days before the inauguration ceremony of the elected U.S. President Joe Biden, scheduled for Wednesday.
