Will Gas Distributors Strike?

Will Gas Distributors Strike?

The President of the Gas Distributors Syndicate, Jan Hatem, issued the following statement: "Due to the chaos of the exchange rate of the dollar against the lira, which has become rapidly fluctuating from one day to another, and since the pricing schedule issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water relies on the exchange rate of the previous day, this results in the distributor incurring losses due to the daily increase in the dollar, especially since the distributor pays the bill in cash dollars but collects payment from shops and citizens in Lebanese lira... Based on what has been presented, and on the principle of constructive cooperation between the Gas Distributors Syndicate and its requirements in Lebanon, which represents the aspirations of the distributors in coordination with the Ministry of Energy to find a fair and just solution to ensure the continued provision of this vital material to the Lebanese citizen, at the beginning of next week, with God's permission, we hope to reach a fair working mechanism for all. Constructive dialogue is our way to achieve our union's goals, which cares for the distributor in securing their rights, and the union will continue to operate in this direction, away from pressuring the citizen to also pay in dollars. Therefore, there will be no strike or negative approach to this urgent and passing situation without finding a quick solution."
