Dr. Sherif Abbas, the treating physician of the late media figure Wail El-Ibrawy and a consultant in liver and infectious diseases at the Liver Institute, commented on accusations of incorrect treatment, stating: "I am an infectious diseases doctor and I did not give him the wrong treatment."
Abbas added during a phone call on the program "Happening in Egypt," broadcasted on MBC Masr: "I asked El-Ibrawy to go to the hospital fearing that his condition would deteriorate, but he refused." He further noted, "A friend of mine helped me contact him to confirm the COVID-19 infection."
He explained, "We started treatment, but after two days, we requested a test and his condition worsened. I went to see him, and he was taking care of himself while his wife was not at home." He also mentioned, "I provided him with nursing care to stay with him at home, and I asked him to go to the hospital, but he refused and brought oxygen cylinders home."
He added, "There is no such thing as a magic treatment; I gave him approved medication." Dr. Sherif Abbas affirmed, "I treated El-Ibrawy at home for five days while he was living alone."
