Kuwaiti artist Abdullah Bushahri revealed that he performed the Umrah rituals on behalf of his compatriot and fellow artist Ali Kakouli, who is imprisoned in relation to a drug-related case. Bushahri shared a video on his Snapchat account, confirming that he "completed his Umrah for himself and will perform Umrah again on behalf of someone dear to him." Although Bushahri did not directly mention the individual's name, close sources disclosed to several outlets that the person in question is the imprisoned artist Ali Kakouli.
Bushahri posted a clip from in front of the Kaaba, accompanied by a prayer for Kakouli's relief, in which he said, "O Reliever of sorrow, and Remover of worry, relieve Ali Kakouli's distress and remove his grief." Kakouli has been in prison for several months following his conviction in a drug case, with a non-definitive ruling issued last November. The Court of Appeals sentenced him to 3 years and 4 months in prison, along with a fine of approximately $10,000.
