Al-Kadhimi: I Will Assume Responsibility and We Are Ready to Do Whatever is Necessary

The Iraqi Prime Minister stated that "the government will assume responsibility, and will do anything for Iraq without hesitation," noting that the problem is political and its solution is political, and "the solution is possible through honest and constructive dialogue." Al-Kadhimi called, through a statement, for everyone to maintain calmness, patience, and rationality, to avoid confrontation, and to respect state institutions. He emphasized the necessity for political blocs to engage in dialogue and to understand each other for the sake of Iraq and Iraqis, while steering clear of language of betrayal and exclusion, and to adopt a high and unifying national spirit, saying, "A thousand days of calm dialogue are better than a moment that spills Iraqi blood... We must all collaborate to stop those who hasten this unrest, and everyone must know well that the fire of discord will burn everyone."

He pointed out that the circumstances are very difficult, stressing the importance of cooperation and solidarity, stating, "We must govern our minds, consciences, and souls, and rally around Iraq and Iraqis, not narrow interests." Al-Kadhimi confirmed that everyone shares responsibility, including parties, the political class, social forces, and all influencers, and that everyone should act according to the principles of wisdom and insight for the sake of Iraq, "so that we do not lose again." He continued, saying, "This is a word I say sincerely, and I hear what is said in secret and in public, and we are sincere, but we hope that others will demonstrate sincerity this time for the sake of Iraq and Iraqis."

He added, "We will assume responsibility, and we are ready to do anything for Iraq without hesitation... The problem is political, and its solution is political, and the solution is possible through honest and constructive dialogue and making concessions for the sake of Iraq and Iraqis," warning against the continuation of political tension, "so that the mines we have been trying to defuse quietly for the past two years do not explode."
