The Public Prosecutor of Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, has issued a decision to register a freeze on properties, vehicles, shares, and stakes in all commercial companies belonging to the banks Bank of Beirut, Bank of Asia and the Middle East, Bank of Lebanon and the Overseas, Mediterranean Bank, and Société Générale Bank. This also applies to properties, vehicles, shares, and stakes in all commercial companies owned by the heads and members of the boards of directors of these banks.
The decision was made in response to a complaint filed by lawyers from the legal department of "The People Want to Reform the Regime" group and others against the banks for crimes including unlawful enrichment and money laundering, among others.
