Mercedes Warns of Fire Risk in 800,000 Cars

Mercedes-Benz – Daimler has informed owners of its luxury cars in Berlin of a technical defect that may lead to fire outbreaks, adding that a recall is not possible due to the unavailability of necessary parts to fix the issue. Daimler stated on Tuesday that the problem arises from a potential leak in the coolant pump, which could lead to overheating components, according to CNN, as reviewed by Al Arabiya.

Daimler sent a message to around 800,000 affected Mercedes-Benz owners stating, “The risk of fire cannot be ruled out.” The company added in the message that the parts required to remedy the issue are not currently available, hence a recall is not feasible at this time, but it will be initiated once the components are available.

The message stated, "In the meantime, the affected vehicle should be driven particularly cautiously and usage should be minimized." The company clarified in a statement: "Owners of vehicles affected by the recall should always contact the nearest Mercedes-Benz service partner immediately."

The affected models include: GLE/GLS (167 platform), C-Class (205 platform), E-Class (213 platform), S-Class (222 platform), S-Class (223 platform), E-Class Coupe/Convertible (238 platform), GLC (253 platform), CLS (257 platform), in addition to the G-Class (463 platform).
