Android 12 Holds a Secret Feature Not Announced by Google

Google revealed the new operating system, Android 12, this week during the Google Developer Conference, but there is one secret feature that the company did not disclose, which has now been discovered by some users. Android 12 is a feature-packed update that brings many new additions and design changes, including new widgets, a redesigned lock screen, and the ability to fully customize the appearance of phones, giving users complete control over colors, shades, and styles.

According to Android Authority, after the beta version of Android 12 became available, a secret and unannounced feature was discovered. A Reddit user noted that the beta contains a hidden Game Mode tucked away in the Digital Wellbeing settings. The user found the "Game Mode" option by navigating to Settings > Digital Wellbeing > Do Not Disturb > Schedules.

As the name suggests, this mode is ideal for those who play a lot of games on their Android smartphones or tablets. It appears that the unannounced Game Mode will allow users to take shareable screenshots, easily stream their gameplay on YouTube, and record gameplay clips.

There is also an “Optimize Mode” that will help games run as smoothly as possible on an Android device, which should be useful when trying to determine whether your device struggles under the pressure of a new game you are playing on it.

As of now, the official release date for Android 12 has not been announced, but based on previous launches, it is likely to be next September, so there is ample time for Google to announce this gaming-focused feature, according to the British newspaper Express.
