Meeting at the Ministry of Public Works: What About Air Navigation at the Airport?

Lebanese air traffic controllers within the Directorate General of Civil Aviation revealed that they held several meetings "with the Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamiyeh, in the presence of the Director General of Civil Aviation, where all the problems and concerns they face were discussed." They continued in a statement: "The discussion focused on how to improve the income of Lebanese air traffic controllers to encourage them not to emigrate and to increase their productivity, in accordance with the nature of their duties and the responsibilities placed upon them, especially with the rising cost of living amid the current conditions the country is experiencing, where their salaries, along with all their due compensations, are the lowest among air traffic controllers working in neighboring countries."

They emphasized that "Hamiyeh has set a roadmap in mind to address most of these issues, which will be actively discussed in the coming days at all levels with the relevant parties in the Lebanese state to secure funding and implement it as soon as possible."

Additionally, during the meeting, a project was proposed to train assistants for air traffic controllers to address the shortage of licensed controllers. The controllers announced in their statement that "to facilitate the implementation of this remediation plan and feeling their national and pivotal role in keeping the airport as Lebanon's gateway to the outside world, the air traffic controllers will continue to provide air navigation services in Lebanon around the clock."
