He lived for 40 years in the jungles of Vietnam like a real Tarzan, unlike the one in Hollywood films. On Monday evening, Ho Van Lang passed away at the age of 52, a victim of liver cancer, as reported by various agencies and the American newspaper New York Post. He was the last surviving member of his family, all of whom were killed in the Vietnam War, one after another starting in the early 1970s, including his older brother Ho Van Tri, who is two years older.
Ho Van Lang had been living with his father in the jungle in central Vietnam, having suffered from cancer for a year, "enduring a lot of pain," according to Tri about his brother, who was seen in 1973 running in the jungle with his father who had gone missing during the Vietnam War after bombings killed his wife and two of their children. The accompanying video narrates more details.
The father, who died four years ago, was fighting alongside North Vietnamese forces at the time when a bomb struck their home, leading them to believe he had died. They were found in August 2013 in the jungle where they had lived since their disappearance in 1972, completely unaware that the war had ended, and they returned home to live with the remaining family members.
