The International Football Federation "FIFA" and the six continental federations have issued an important official statement regarding the exclusion of any club or player participating in any tournament not overseen by them from participating in the tournaments they organize.
The statement reads: "In light of recent media speculation regarding the establishment of a European 'Super League' by some clubs, FIFA and the six continental federations wish to reaffirm firmly that FIFA and the six continental federations will not recognize any such tournament. As a result, no club or player participating in such a competition will be allowed to participate in tournaments organized by FIFA or the continental federations."
The statement clarified: "According to FIFA and continental federation regulations, all competitions must be organized or recognized by the corresponding body at every level, by FIFA globally, and by the confederations at the continental level. In this context, the continental federations recognize the FIFA Club World Cup, in its current and new forms, as the only global club competition, and FIFA recognizes the club competitions organized by the confederations as the only continental competitions."
The statement emphasized that: "Football has a long and prosperous history thanks to these principles. The results that come from the pitch should always determine participation in global and continental competitions."
