Taliban Promises to Build a Regular Army Soon and Prevent Afghanistan from Slipping into Civil War

The Taliban movement, which has returned to power in Afghanistan, announced that it has begun preparations to create a regular army in the country. Afghan news agency "Amaj News" reported today, Wednesday, that Qari Fasihuddin, who has taken the position of Chief of Staff of the Taliban's new government army, stated during a gathering in Kabul that consultations are ongoing regarding the army's establishment, adding, "We will have a regular army in the near future." Fasihuddin emphasized the necessity of training armed forces to protect Afghanistan, vowing to fight anyone who opposes the Taliban due to "ethnic affiliation, resistance, and support for the democracy" that NATO has attempted to construct in Afghanistan over the past 20 years. He remarked that these individuals are trying to "drag the country into civil war," adding that the movement "will not allow them to undermine security and shed blood."
