Deputy Melhem Khalaf confirmed that "the phase Lebanon is going through necessitates attending to the pains of citizens, rather than focusing solely on numbers and positions," considering that "the primary and fundamental goal is to rescue the country." In an interview with "Voice of Lebanon," he emphasized that "the decision regarding the consultations to choose the Prime Minister has not yet been made by the bloc," pointing out that meetings are being held in this regard to reach a choice that satisfies the diversity within the bloc.
Regarding the first parliamentary session to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, Khalaf stressed that "the choice of the change MPs was towards a new approach representing a third option." In response to those expressing disappointment with the outcome and blaming the forces of change, Khalaf indicated that the message is clear, and that the changers were keen on a democracy that the council had not been accustomed to previously. He believed that the confusion during the session is a clear indication of their impact.
Khalaf viewed that "the issue of Hezbollah's weapons requires sincere dialogue to restore the state's authority and confine arms to the Lebanese army only," stating that "the army is the sole responsible entity for the protection of all Lebanese territories." Regarding the indirect negotiations with Israel, Khalaf mentioned that "the Forces of Change place significant importance on the border demarcation issue," emphasizing the "necessity of protecting Line 29 and not compromising it under any pretext," noting that "everyone is required, especially the caretaker government, to be prepared and take the necessary steps to protect Lebanon's rights."
