Barcelona announced on Monday that they have officially signed Sergio Aguero for two seasons on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Manchester City at the end of the current season. The Spanish newspaper "Marca" reported that the 32-year-old player signed a two-year contract until 2023, highlighting that the deal includes a release clause of 100 million euros.
Aguero traveled to Barcelona after Manchester City's defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League final, where he underwent a medical examination on Monday morning before officially signing his contract with Barcelona. Immediately after signing the contract, the Argentine star expressed his happiness about joining what he described as "the best team in the world."
Aguero stated, "We all know this, Barcelona is the best team in the world... It was a good decision to join and help it achieve success." He added, "This is a new step, and I am very happy... I hope I can contribute a lot to the club." He continued, "The first thing for now is to try to play and help the team as much as I can. We are a team, and I will do my best. I hope we can reach the end of the season and compete for important titles."
