The "WhatsApp" platform is testing a highly requested update for "Android" devices, mirroring a feature that iPhone users have enjoyed for years. The iMessage reactions are not new, as users of this service can quickly respond to texts using emojis like the thumbs up. Finally, WhatsApp users will receive something very similar with this update currently being trialed in the WhatsApp beta testing program. According to the WABetaInfo team, WhatsApp has released this beta upgrade for Android 2.22.8.3, which includes the option to respond to messages using emoji-like reactions.
It appears that there will be six reaction options to choose from, including thumbs up, heart, and laughing face. Just like in Apple’s iMessage, these reactions can be placed over the message to speed up replies. For example, if someone sends a message that makes you happy, you can simply place a heart or laughing reaction above it, instead of writing a lengthy response. This is a fantastic update from WhatsApp, although there is no official word on when it will be launched for Android. WABetaInfo seems confident that it will arrive soon, and iPhone users should also be able to benefit once it is released.
