An Egyptian husband tortured his pregnant wife for a continuous 13 hours due to her request for childbirth expenses in the city of Kom Ombo, north of Aswan, in Upper Egypt. The accused turned himself in to the Kom Ombo police station after the wife filed a report accusing him of torture following her demand for childbirth expenses, according to Sada El-Balad.
The authorities received a report from a 27-year-old woman, a housewife, who had serious injuries. Officers from the Kom Ombo police station promptly went to the hospital. Three days later, the accused surrendered himself, and the public prosecutor was notified to carry out the investigation.
The woman's father stated he was at work when he received a call from his family informing him that his daughter had been injured and was now at home. He immediately rushed home to check on her. He added that his daughter had been beaten and tortured for 13 consecutive hours by her husband, and she was initially afraid to tell him the truth because her husband had threatened to kill their child if she revealed what happened.
He expressed his shock upon finding his daughter with bruises, wounds, and signs of torture on her face and body that completely altered her appearance and weakened her voice, making it difficult for her to respond to his questions. He subsequently filed a report about the incident. Meanwhile, the mother of the assaulted wife stated that her daughter frequently suffers from beatings and humiliation at the hands of her 35-year-old husband due to his use of dangerous drugs and addiction, which drives him to violently attack her.
