The General Director of Rafik Hariri Governmental Hospital, Firas Al-Abyad, clarified that there are two types of immunity provided by the COVID-19 vaccine, which last for at least 8 months and may extend to a year.
Regarding the possibility of receiving two doses of different vaccines, Al-Abyad mentioned in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" that this matter is being discussed in advanced countries, but so far, it is preferable to receive the same vaccine. He pointed out that the information received from Pfizer indicates that our vaccine allocation is reserved and will be delivered on time. He confirmed the upcoming import of the AstraZeneca vaccine and the Russian vaccine.
He emphasized that the importance of the vaccine lies in its ability to protect against severe illness, significantly reducing the likelihood of a patient needing hospitalization or being placed on a ventilator. He encouraged everyone to register through the designated platform.
In another context, Al-Abyad noted that the decline in PCR tests is due to citizens' commitment to staying home, and that individuals who suspect they may be infected do not undergo testing but instead adhere to home quarantine.
