Romelu Lukaku, forward for Inter Milan, has won the award for Best Player in Serie A. The Belgian striker earned the official award after scoring 24 goals in the league and providing 11 assists, helping Inter secure the title for the first time in 11 years. Cristiano Ronaldo was named the best striker after scoring 29 goals in the league, winning the Serie A top scorer title. Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina was selected as the best player under 23 years old. Gianluigi Donnarumma received the award for Best Goalkeeper after keeping 14 clean sheets with Milan. The Best Defender award went to Cristian Romero of Atalanta. Nicolo Barella was named the Best Midfielder, joining his teammate Lukaku on the honor list. Inter Milan clinched the league title four rounds before the season ended, gathering 91 points — the second-highest total in the club's history after achieving 97 points in the 2006-2007 season — ending Juventus's nine-year domestic dominance in the league. Inter did not achieve a position higher than fourth for eight years before the arrival of coach Antonio Conte.
