The Danger of Cold Hands

A neurologist in Russia stated that cold hands are always a sign of vasospasm in the body, as reported by "Russia Today." The Russian neurologist Pavel Khorushev explained during a television interview that the causes of this vasospasm can be very diverse. It may be a reaction of the body to the cold environment, as one of the reasons is Raynaud's disease. He added that this phenomenon can also indicate the body's reaction to low blood pressure or medication. The doctor continued: "If blood pressure drops for some reason, the patient’s body believes it is losing blood seriously somewhere. Then, vasospasm occurs in the peripheral vessels to reduce blood flow to these areas, temporarily sacrificing them. The spasm becomes strong enough for the hands to feel cold."
