In a rare incident, a Libyan citizen discovered the remains of a nearly complete skeleton in the Libyan desert, which is expected to be a small dinosaur. According to the Libyan News Agency, the skeleton, about the size of a palm, had some damaged limbs; however, its overall structure remained intact, featuring a strong head and prominent jaws. What distinguishes it most is its small size, measuring no more than 15 centimeters.
The citizen who found the skeleton explained that it was visible due to erosion factors, and the size of the head caught his attention, prompting him to pick it up, which turned out to resemble larger dinosaurs in shape despite its small size. He confirmed that it had large teeth and a strong jaw compared to its size.
He also stated that he contacted specialists in paleontology who informed him that what he found belonged to the "Kongonaphon kely" species, which predates dinosaurs and the flying "Tyrannosaurus", with some measuring only 10 centimeters in length.
Furthermore, photos taken of the skeleton indicated that the small dinosaur appeared to have been an adult at the time of its death due to the growth rings present in its bones. Additionally, the citizen decided to keep the dinosaur remains as a memory from a certain period in Libyan history, which sparked his interest in learning about and studying the dinosaur era. He expressed his readiness to donate his finding to any scientific institution or university interested in benefiting from it.
