Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Abbas al-Hajj Hasan, tweeted: "Following reports of a giant turtle on the beach in the Ramlet al-Bayda area in Beirut, a team from the Animal Wealth Department was dispatched to investigate, and they confirmed that it had died due to suffocation from a plastic bag. We urge citizens to maintain the cleanliness of the beach and refrain from littering."
