A civilian aircraft in Iran had to make an emergency landing on a street in Isfahan province due to a technical malfunction. The Iranian official news agency, "IRNA," reported that a plane belonging to the "Kaspian" company took off from Mashhad, in the northeast of the country, heading to Isfahan. However, due to the technical issue, the aircraft was forced to land outside of Isfahan Airport.
A video recorded by one of the passengers, who exited the plane, documented the evacuation of the 119 passengers through inflatable slides. The man, speaking in Arabic with an Iraqi dialect, stated: "God saved us, thank God... flight accident." Iranian authorities reported that one passenger sustained injuries.
This is not the first instance of an Iranian plane landing on a public street away from an airport runway, as a similar incident occurred in early 2020. Many attribute the recurrence of such incidents in Iran to the outdated and deteriorating state of the air fleet, largely due to a lack of spare parts.
