Attack on Police with Explosives Results in Casualties

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that an explosives attack in southwestern Colombia resulted in the deaths of eight police officers. Petro stated on Twitter, "I strongly condemn the explosives attack that killed eight police officers," adding, "My solidarity is with their families." The attack occurred in a rural area of Huila Province. A spokesperson for the regional police told AFP, "It was an attack on a police patrol. It appears to have involved explosives, and they were killed with firearms." Authorities have not pointed fingers at any particular group.
