The Zarqa area woke up today, Tuesday, to the news of a heinous crime, after an individual killed another person in Salah al-Din Mosque in the city, shocking the streets of Jordan. The media spokesperson for the Jordanian Public Security Directorate stated in a statement that "a report was received early in the morning at the Zarqa Police Directorate, indicating that a person had entered a mosque and shot another individual, leading to his death."
He added, "Upon the arrival of the first police patrol, the relatives of the victim had gathered and apprehended the perpetrator, assaulting him and taking him to one of the homes." He explained that after "raiding the house, the perpetrator was found dead."
It was confirmed that "seven people were detained inside the house during the raid, as well as an automatic firearm found in their possession, and investigations are still ongoing." The Jordanian Public Security did not disclose the names of the victim or the perpetrator or their families, merely stating that the crime took place in Zarqa.
The motive for the crime is currently unknown, but confirmed reports indicated that the victim died on the spot. The victim's body was transferred to Zarqa Hospital, the public hospital in Jordan, and multiple investigations have been opened regarding the motives behind this crime.
