Kawthar Ben Hania won the Best Screenplay Award at the 31st Stockholm International Film Festival in the Swedish capital. The Oscar Academy has announced that the film "The Man Who Sold His Back," directed by Tunisian filmmaker, is included in its short list for Best International Feature Film.
The film was selected to represent Tunisia in the Best Global Film category for the Oscars by the National Center for Cinema and Image. It has a runtime of 104 minutes, having started in the Horizons competition at the Venice International Film Festival.
The plot revolves around "Sam," a young Syrian who flees to Lebanon to escape the war in his country without official residency. "Sam" struggles to obtain a travel visa to Europe, where his girlfriend lives, and he crashes the opening parties of art exhibitions in Beirut, where he meets renowned contemporary American artist Jeffrey Godefroy and makes an agreement that will change his life forever.
