Recent rankings show that the United Arab Emirates has risen to the top of the global vaccination rate against COVID-19, surpassing Israel. According to the rankings published by several sources, including "The New York Times" and "Financial Times," UAE health authorities have administered 121 doses of COVID-19 vaccines for every 100 people. Israel follows in second place (117 doses per 100 people), then Bahrain (93), Europe (92), and Chile in fifth place (90). The rankings, which include various countries, rely on data provided by local governments compared to each country's population.
Since launching the nationwide vaccination campaign in December, the UAE has administered over 11.9 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. On Friday, the UAE announced the administration of approximately 122,000 vaccine doses in the past 24 hours. "The National News" reported that vaccination rates in the Gulf state exceed 100,000 doses daily. This week, the vaccination campaign has been expanded after the UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention approved the emergency use of the COVID-19 "Pfizer-BioNTech" vaccine for the age group of 12 to 15 years.
