In light of the global spread of the coronavirus and the inability of most countries to obtain a vaccine against it so far, some international festivals are undoubtedly going to be postponed.
The Cannes Film Festival for 2021, which was scheduled to take place from May 11 to 22, has been postponed by the organizers, citing the current pandemic situation worldwide. Reports earlier this month suggested that the festival could be delayed until June or July. However, since Cannes' agenda is busy in June—hosting the MIPIM real estate event and the Cannes Lions advertising gathering—there will not be enough space and time for the film festival. Consequently, the organizers agreed to postpone it to July 6 to 17. The city will also have a financial meeting at the beginning of July, but there remains sufficient time for the festival's organization. The organizers have currently decided not to postpone it to August or September.
