Army Chief: Our War on Drugs is Not Over, and We Do Not Expect Any Cover

Army Commander Major General Joseph Aoun arrived at Sheikh Abdullah Barracks via military helicopter, where he met with senior army officers and military personnel. He then proceeded to the town of Bouday, visiting the home of Ajjaj Shamss in the presence of senior members of the Shamss clan, offering condolences for the martyr Sergeant Zain Al-Abidin Shamss, who fell while performing his national duty last Friday in the Al-Sharaouna neighborhood.

During his visit to the Bekaa Intelligence Branch, the Army Commander stated: "Our fight against drugs is not over and continues. We do not operate according to any agenda, but out of our responsibility towards our people and our homeland. To all those who break the law, surrender and you will be safe; otherwise, bear the consequences of your decision."

In a speech before the Sixth Brigade in Baalbek, the Army Commander emphasized that "security is a red line, and it is not permissible to tamper with it, especially with the tourist season approaching. The army has no enmity with any region or clan. All clans are our kin, but our duty is to apprehend those who violate the law. The people of Baalbek are tired and demand security, and this is our duty toward them, as we promised, no matter the sacrifices."
