The Israeli Response to Maritime Boundary Delimitation

Information from the newspaper "Al-Jumhuriya" reveals the Israeli response that Lebanese officials received from Hochstein, as well as from the American ambassador who clarified some related details. The Israeli response included the following points:

- First, Israel approached the Lebanese proposal conveyed by Hochstein regarding Line 23 with positivity.

- Second, Israel has invested around 15 billion dollars in the development and preparation of the Karish field for exploitation. Therefore, it considers this a right that it fully owns and will not halt work there.

- Third, Israel expressed its willingness to show flexibility with Lebanon concerning its aim to establish Line 23, with curves allowing Lebanon to have the entire Qana field within its borders. However, this flexibility is contingent upon meeting two conditions: the first condition is that the curve in the line will lead to bends at certain points, and the second condition is that Israel must be compensated financially for the high costs it will incur by agreeing to the bend south of Line 23.

- Fourth, Israel does not support returning to maritime boundary negotiations in Naqoura.

- Fifth, while Israel opposes resuming negotiations in Naqoura, it does not object to holding the final agreement signing ceremony for the delimitation at an event in Naqoura. According to the newspaper's information, Israel has given a two-month deadline to start work thereafter, meaning it is requesting a final Lebanese response to these conditions within this period.
