Snowstorms and Rain Hit Middle Eastern Countries

Middle Eastern countries are experiencing fluctuations in weather conditions, accompanied by snowstorms and heavy rains in several nations. The snowfall in low-lying areas of Lebanon, due to the low-pressure system affecting the country, has resulted in road closures. According to a reporter from "Sky News Arabia" in Beirut, the Meteorological Department forecasts heavy snowfall alongside heavy rainfall in coastal areas. Snow has also begun to fall in the Golan Heights and Jerusalem, prompting authorities to close schools amid warnings of potential flooding in coastal and southern regions.

Parts of Syria have also been impacted by the low-pressure system affecting the region. Meanwhile, Egyptian authorities announced the suspension of all government operations in Alexandria due to a surface low over the Mediterranean Sea. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority reported variations in weather conditions on Wednesday, with the surface low bringing large amounts of humidity. They confirmed that weather conditions are conducive to heavy rainfall across all coasts and the delta, extending inland as well.

Furthermore, strong northern winds over the Mediterranean are expected to significantly raise wave heights beyond 5 meters, increasing the perception of cold weather, as temperatures are expected to drop markedly across all governorates due to the arrival of a cold front. Jordan is also affected by a highly active polar low-pressure system, leading to heavy rainfall and substantial snowfall in elevations above 700 meters, accompanied by a significant drop in temperatures, resulting in frost formation.

A reporter from "Sky News Arabia" in Amman noted that relevant authorities have declared a state of maximum alert to handle the weather conditions. The Jordanian government has decided to suspend operations in public institutions on Thursday and end work on Wednesday at noon. Citizens have been urged to exercise caution during the storm hours and to stay away from flood-prone areas and wadi beds. The Ministry of Public Works in Jordan allocated a significant number of vehicles to clear roads and remove snow, while the Public Security Directorate also announced a state of emergency to manage the weather conditions.
