Sources from the hospital where actress Dalal Abd El Aziz was being treated have revealed details about her last hours. They indicated that her condition severely deteriorated in the final days, to the point of complete loss of consciousness at times, and she was unable to remove the oxygen mask from her face.
The newspaper Al-Watan reported that Dalal Abd El Aziz was suffering from significant lung fibrosis as a result of contracting the coronavirus, which made it difficult for her to breathe normally. Her mental state worsened considerably during the last period due to her prolonged hospital stay and reliance on breathing assistance devices, to the extent that she sometimes refused to take medication.
The sources also mentioned that Dalal Abd El Aziz was transferred from a private hospital where she was being treated to a government hospital in October, approximately two weeks prior. There was a medical suggestion for lung transplantation for her, but this proposal was rejected by her family due to the risks associated with the surgery.
Dalal Abd El Aziz, who was 61 years old, contracted the coronavirus in late April, and she was admitted to a hospital in the Fifth Settlement, while her late husband, actor Samir Ghanem, was taken to another hospital in Mohandessin, where he later passed away due to complications from a fungal infection.
