Snapchat has joined the list of social media companies that have banned the outgoing president Donald Trump from their platforms.
Snapchat announced that its decision to permanently ban Trump's account was made "for the sake of public safety, based on his attempts to spread misinformation, hate speech, and incitement to violence." Last Friday, Snapchat announced the indefinite suspension of Donald Trump's account. A spokesperson for the app said that the company is concerned about the rhetoric from Trump and the attacks on democratic institutions. To curb his claims about the results of the U.S. elections, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat all suspended President Donald Trump's accounts, particularly amid the riots in Washington, D.C. As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, Twitter removed three of Trump's tweets after his supporters stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to force Congress to block the certification of Democratic candidate Joe Biden's election.
