The German Eye Foundation stated that foggy vision in the morning requires immediate medical consultation, as it may indicate blood clots in the retina. The foundation explained that risk factors leading to blood clots in the retina include eye diseases such as glaucoma, cardiovascular diseases, atherosclerosis, diabetes, as well as advancing age and an unhealthy lifestyle, including smoking, alcohol consumption, obesity, and lack of physical activity. The foundation emphasized that early diagnosis of blood clots in the retina can prevent permanent damage such as vision loss in the affected eye, noting that treatment for the clots is often done with medications that help thin the blood and remove the clots.
