President Fouad Seniora warned against fraud in the upcoming parliamentary elections, stating: "Elections, as everyone knows, are a right and a duty for all Lebanese. Although this current law in effect is a bad law because it is against the constitution, it has also exacerbated the hostility and animosity among the Lebanese components, contrary to what the Taif Agreement sought to achieve, which is forming a genuine unity among the Lebanese components. This law has made matters worse than what the Lebanese had anticipated. Therefore, we are going through this difficult phase where we must be vigilant to ensure that what is called the will of the Lebanese people is not falsified, and especially the will of the people of Beirut. Beirut has never been and should not become a lawless territory where anyone attempts to distort its will."
