The police in Central Florida announced that a child found an unsecured loaded gun inside an apartment and accidentally shot his mother while she was on a work-related video call. According to media reports, the woman was the mother of the child who shot her in the head on Wednesday. The Altamonte Springs Police stated in a news release that someone on the video call called emergency services (911) after seeing the child in the background and hearing a noise. The caller reported that the woman, identified as 21-year-old Shamaya Lynn, fell backward and never returned to the video call. The police also stated that "officers and paramedics did their utmost to assist Ms. Lynn, but she was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head." Additionally, the police said that an adult had left the firearm unsecured.
