The French magazine "Frans Football" has announced that the ceremony for awarding the Golden Ball for the best football player of 2022 will take place on October 17th in the French capital, Paris. The 66th edition of the award will be held at the Châtelet Theatre, which saw Argentine star Lionel Messi win the prestigious award for the seventh time last year, a record achievement. The nominees for the award will be announced on August 12th. This year's Golden Ball will be the first awarded by "Frans Football" since reforms were introduced to the award's criteria, relying on results from the football season rather than the calendar year. Traditionally, the Golden Ball was awarded at the end of the calendar year since its inception in 1956, but according to the new reforms, it will now align with the football season running from August to July. Additionally, a smaller jury will be established, using a more precise selection process and clearer criteria per the new regulations. According to the new rules, the impressive individual performance and decisive contributions of the nominees will take priority over team achievements and titles won.
