The following statement was issued by the Army Command - Directorate of Guidance: A patrol from the Directorate of Intelligence arrested the citizen (H.F.) in the town of Ansar on suspicion of participating in the kidnapping of citizen Basima Abbas and her daughters Reema (born 2000), Tala (born 2002), and Manal (born 2006) on March 2, 2022.
A series of investigations conducted with the detainee led to his confession that he carried out the kidnapping in collaboration with the fugitive Syrian (H.G.), and that they transported the kidnapped girls and their mother to a cave located on the outskirts of the aforementioned town, where they were murdered.
After an inspection of the location by a patrol from the Directorate and a team from the Army's forensic evidence unit, the bodies of the four were found and transferred to a hospital for further necessary laboratory examinations. Investigations continue to uncover all the circumstances of the crime under the supervision of the competent judiciary, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the involved Syrian.
